INSPIRED MEDA
Stories of Faith, Hope & Love
These are the stories I’ve turned to, and still turn to, when I need a dose of inspiration. I’ve dedicated this corner of my blog to uplifting content because let’s face it, we all need more of it. Every day, we’re inundated with the harsh realities of life, and while I don’t believe in ignoring those, we owe it to the world and ourselves to bring the best version of ourselves into every situation. That’s not always easy, especially when you’re struggling with depression. Trust me, I know that firsthand.
As a writer, I appreciate great storytelling across many genres. But here, I focus solely on the stories that bring light: tales of faith, hope, love, prayer, redemption, and resilience. This is my home base for media that nourishes the soul. That doesn’t mean I’m naïve or sugarcoated. I’m a feeler, deeply moved by emotion and nuance, but I’ve come to realize I need to be intentional about the stories I consume. The world is heavy enough. This space is for what lifts us up.
Ask me what I consider the best-written television show of all time, and I won’t hesitate — The West Wing, without question. Every episode is a masterclass in character, cadence, and conviction. It reminds me that words still matter, and so does integrity. It’s not a faith-based show, but for those of us who believe in mission, it resonates deeply.
Many of the films, shows, and stories I share are Christian because I’m Catholic, and that’s where my heart finds its resonance. However, I’ve also included moving masterpieces like Kundun, about the Dalai Lama, and the lesser-known made-for-TV film Twist of Faith, which encompasses both Christianity and Judaism. We learn from one another. Good storytelling transcends doctrine and points us toward truth, compassion, and the sacred.
I created this section for people like me who love powerful storytelling but need something more soul-nourishing than shock value. If you’re going through tough times, I hope you find something here that lifts your spirit. Take it from someone who knows: sometimes your best days come right after your worst. I’ve learned to turn to prayer first and then, often, to storytellers like the ones I’ll be celebrating in this space.
May you find a little light here when the world feels heavy. Enjoy. Stay a while.
Blessings.
